Frank O’Connor 2014 shortlist announced

The titles shortlisted for the 2014 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award have been announced. The shortlisted titles are: Young Skins (Colin Barrett, Vintage Digital); All the Rage (A L Kennedy, Jonathan Cape); Redeployment (Phil Klay, Cannongate); Leaving the Sea (Ben Marcus, Granta); Bark (Lorrie Moore, Faber); and The Isle of Youth (Laura Van Den Berg, Farrar, Straus & Giroux). The €25,000 (A$36,318) Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award is awarded annually for a short-story collection ‘published in English for the first time anywhere in the world’ in the previous 12 months. It is currently the world’s richest prize for a short-story collection. If a translated book wins, the prize money is shared equally between author and translator. The winner will be announced this month.
