New Salinger title published

In the US, the Devault-Graves Agency (DGA) has published the J D Salinger short story collection Three Early Stories as a print-on-demand paperback, ebook and audiobook, reports Publishers Weekly. DGA co-owner Tom Graves said the collection was the first ‘legally sound’ book by Salinger to be published in 50 years and the first Salinger book legitimately available as an ebook and audiobook. Graves and business partner Darrin Devault had researched the rights to the Salinger’s 21 early stories, written before The Catcher in the Rye was published in 1951, and discovered three stories that were never registered to Salinger. The pair ran an extensive intellectual property search and were able to legally secure world rights to the three works. The Salinger Trust lawyers investigated the title after it went live on Amazon, but have taken no action against DGA. Three Early Stories contains ‘The Young Folks’ and ‘Once a Week Won’t Kill You’, previously published in Story magazine, and ‘Go See Eddie’, published in the University of Kansas City Review. Ingram is handling printing and physical distribution, Bookbaby is handling digital distribution and the audiobook is available through Audible.
