Ubud announces 2014 program

The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival (UWRF) has announced the full program for its 11th festival, which will run from 1-5 October in Bali, Indonesia.

Among the line-up are a number of Australian authors, including Fiona McFarlane, Kate Holden, Robyn Davidson, Michaela McGuire, Tim Flannery, Tim Cope, Alison Lester and Mem Fox, as well as Dutch-Australian filmmaker Rolf De Heer.

Also attending the festival are Eimear McBride; Val McDermid; V S Naipaul; Tash Aw; Colin Thubron; husband and wife authors Amitav Ghosh and Deborah Baker; Cyrus Mistry, winner of the 2014 DSC Prize; and Hassan Blasim, the first Arab writer to win the UK’s Independent Foreign Fiction Prize.

This year’s festival explores the theme ‘Wisdom and Knowledge’, with over 150 guests from 30 countries. The program includes literary lunches, cultural masterclasses, street parties, poetry slams and film screenings.
