RiP Shirley Painter

Australian author Shirley Painter has died, aged 95. HarperCollins writes:‘Sadly, Melbourne teacher and author, Shirley Painter died on Tuesday 29th July. In 2003, at the age of 84, Shirley received the Dobbie Award for first book by an Australian woman writer for her harrowing but inspirational memoir The Bean Patch.’
