Hachette CEO Pietsch replies to Amazon letter-writing campaign

In the US, Hachette CEO  Michael Pietsch has responded to emails from readers complaining about the price of ebooks. The emails to Pietsch are the result of a ‘Readers United’ campaign by Amazon, which urges customers to email Pietsch and ask him to keep ebook prices low. Amazon’s campaign is, in turn, a reaction to an open letter advertisement by author Douglas Preston and 900 other writers, who call themselves Authors United, asking readers to email Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to complain about his company’s treatment of Hachette authors during the retailer’s negotiations with the publisher. Australian author Markus Zusak is among the authors to sign the Authors United letter, which can be read in full here. The content of Pietsch’s replies can be found on Digital Book World here.
