UQP signs Rowe, O’Reilly and Lamb

UQP has acquired a novel-in-progress by Josephine Rowe, a short story collection by Paddy O’Reilly and a biography of Thea Astley by Karen Lamb.

Rowe, who is currently a Stegner Fellow on the Stanford Creative Writing Program in the US, is the author of the short story collection Tarcutta Wake (UQP) and How a Moth Becomes a Boat (Hunter Publishers). UQP publisher Madonna Duffy has acquired ANZ rights to her debut novel A Loving Faithful Animal, which ‘follows one family through its adolescent daughters and looks at the intergenerational repercussions of the Vietnam War’. UQP plans to publish the novel in early 2016.

Duffy has also acquired world rights in O’Reilly’s ‘brilliant new short story collection’ Peripheral Vision and plans to publish it in mid-2015. Reilly’s The End of the World was published by UQP in 2007; her novel The Wonders was published by Affirm Press this year.

UQP nonfiction publisher Alexandra Payne has acquired world rights in Lamb’s biography of Astley through Curtis Brown for publication in April 2015.
