Kobo to sell waterproof ereader

Kobo has unveiled the ‘world’s first premium waterproof e-ink ereader’, reports Digital Book World. The Waterproof Aura H2O Reader can be submerged in one metre of water for up to 30 minutes, and ‘allows readers to enjoy ebooks anywhere they want to read, including previously risky places like the bath or at the beach’, said Kobo in a statement. ‘We found that more than 60% of customers surveyed said they would love to be able read near water without worry,’ said Kobo president Michael Tamblyn. The ereader will be available from 1 October in Canada, the US, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, with a suggested retail price of C$179.00, US$179.99, £139.99 and €179.99.
