New ‘Books+Publishing Junior’ reviews out now

Books+Publishing’s latest Junior newsletter contains six reviews of children’s and YA books publishing in October and November.

Included is a review of The Three Billy Goats Gruff from Little Hare’s new fairytale picture-book series. ‘The “Once Upon a Timeless Tale” series is an inspired way of introducing children to traditional fairytales through small, hardback, well-produced picture books,’ writes reviewer Margaret Hamilton. ‘Each tale has been retold by Little Hare publisher Margrete Lamond and illustrated by a well-known Australian artist. The design makes the series both inviting and collectable.’

Also reviewed are picture books Tim and Ed (Ursula Dubosarsky, illus by Andrew Joyner, Viking, November) and Whale in the Bath (Kylie Westaway, illus by Tom Jellett, A&U, October); for younger readers, Race to the End of the World: The Mapmaker Chronicles (A L Tait, Hachette, October) and Withering-by-Sea: A Stella Montgomery Intrigue (Judith Rossell, ABC Books, November); and for young adults, Speed of Light (Joy Cowley, Gecko Press, October).
