Author enters ‘Big Brother’ house

Sam Bramham, paralympian and author of the memoir Three-Quarter Man (Affirm Press) is a housemate in the current season of reality TV show ‘Big Brother’.

Bramham entered the ‘Big Brother’ house on Tuesday 10 September.  The show, which sees housemates evicted over the course of one season, runs until 26 November.

Affirm Press sales and marketing manager Keiran Rogers told Books+Publishing that he believed it was an ‘industry first having a published author in the house’.

‘A producer for “Big Brother” heard Sam interviewed as part of his media tour for the book, and got in contact to see if he were interested,’ said Rogers.

Rogers said the ‘younger viewership of BB is perfect’ for Bramham, who is 26 years old. ‘“Big Brother” averaged 1.309 million viewers last year, so to have this many people watching every night will be huge for Sam’s profile, and the book.’

Rogers said Affirm Press will be running a social media campaign while Bramham is in the house and a traditional media campaign after he leaves the house.

‘Sam is an impressive man—gold medal winning paralympian and order of Australia recipient—so hopefully he comes across well!’ said Rogers.

Three-Quarter Man was published by Affirm Press in August.
