Blackwell’s launches academic ebook platform

In the UK, academic bookseller and library supplier Blackwell’s has launched a new e-book platform for students in Beta. The platform, which the Bookseller reports is a ‘multi-million pound’ investment for the retailer, will allow students to annotate and highlight the ebook textbooks they buy, and has been built ‘from scratch with students in mind’, according to Blackwell’s digital director Matthew Cashmore. Cashmore said the platform included books from ‘all the major publishers’, including Pearson, Cengage, Wiley and McGraw Hill. ‘Every day for the next few months we will be adding functionality,’ he said. ‘We will be in continual development.’
