Book adaptations among AWGIE winners

Book adaptations are among winners of the 47th Annual AWGIE Awards for screen, television, stage and radio writing, presented by Australian Writers’ Guild.

ANZAC Girls, a six-part miniseries adaptated from the book The Other ANZACS (Peter Rees, A&U), was the winner in the Television Miniseries Adaptation category.

Andrew Knight’s adaptation of The Broken Shore (Peter Temple, Text) won in the Telemovie Adaptation category and Andrew Bovell’s theatre adaptation of The Secret River (Kate Grenville, Text) won in the Stage category.

The AWGIE Awards recognise works produced in 2013 and are judged by ‘esteemed writers on the basis of the script—the writer’s intention’. View the full list of winners here.
