Dorothy Butler Children’s Bookshop in Auckland up for sale

The Dorothy Butler Children’s Bookshop in the Auckland suburb of Ponsonby is up for sale, reports Booksellers NZ.

Sheila Sinclair, owner of both the Children’s Bookshop in Christchurch and the Dorothy Butler Children’s Bookshop, has decided to sell one store as part of her retirement plan and hopes that a new owner will ‘continue the proud tradition of this iconic business’.

‘It has been a great privilege to be part of this well-known bookshop for the last 15 years and we hope to pass it on to someone with a love of children’s literature,’ said Sinclair.

The Children’s Bookshop was established in Christchurch in 1976. In 1999 the owner purchased the Dorothy Butler Children’s Bookshop, orginally founded by author Dorothy Butler. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the Christchurch store was rebuilt after the 2011 earthquake.
