Poll names Harry Potter as best book-to-film adaptation

The films based on J K Rowling’s Harry Potter series have topped a Samsung Electronics poll of the best book-to-film adaptations, reports the Evening Standard. The Shawshank Redemption, based on Stephen King’s novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, came in second, and the film adaptation of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy (J R R Tolkien) came in third. The results of the poll were announced to coincide with the release of David Fincher’s film adaptation of Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, and also featured the worst book-to-screen adaptations. Film adaptations of The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown), the Twilight series (Stephenie Meyer) and Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden) were voted the least popular.
