Amazon to open ‘pop-up’ stores in San Francisco and Sacramento

In the US, Amazon will open ‘pop-up’ stores in San Francisco and Sacramento to showcase its hardware range during the Christmas holiday period, reports technology-news website Geekwire.  Amazon confirmed that one store will be located at the Westfield San Francisco Centre in the city’s central shopping district and is planning a second store in Sacramento. ‘We’re excited to open new pop-up kiosks in San Francisco and Sacramento in time for the holidays so that customers can try out our new devices,’ said an Amazon spokesperson. ‘While customers can already see our products online and at retailers like Best Buy and Staples, we wanted to provide another option to try out our full line-up leading into the holidays.’ The news followed an unconfirmed report by Wall Street Journal on 9 October that Amazon is planning to open its first bricks-and-mortar store in New York.
