Creative New Zealand releases draft ‘Review of Literature’

New Zealand arts development agency Creative New Zealand (CNZ) has released a draft report into its support for New Zealand literature.

The ‘Review of Literature’ report presents the results of the organisation’s research into the sector and lists several proposals for change, including: changing the number of overseas residencies for writers; revising the list of genres eligible for grants; and revising the eligibility for publishing proposals.

The report was put together by seven writers, seven publishers and seven representatives from literature-related organisations, including the Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ).

CNZ is now calling for feedback on how the organisation can better support and develop New Zealand literature. A final report will be presented to the New Zealand Arts Council.
