Authors announced for Adelaide Writers’ Week

Adelaide Writers’ Week has announced the line-up for its 2015 festival.

Among the international guests are UK authors John Lanchester, Michel Faber, Esther Freud and Tom Rob Smith; US author and chef Dan Barber and My Salinger Year author Joanna Rakoff; Canadian author Tom Rachman (The Imperfectionists); and Norwegian author Linn Ullmann (The Cold Song).

Local guests include Joan London, Helen Garner, Don Watson, Hannie Rayson, Hugh Mackay, Erik Jensen, Favel Parrett, Graeme Simsion, Kimberley Freeman and Cate Kennedy. Children and teens will be entertained by Grug creator Ted Prior, Andy Griffiths, Libby Hawthorn and Sophie Laguna.

‘The focus this year is very much on contemporary culture,’ said director Laura Kroetsch of her fourth festival. ‘It appears, as we inch into the 21st century, we are all worried about money and food and modern marriage and these worries are reflected in the stories that are being written.’

Adelaide Writers’ Week will run from 28 February to 5 March at the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden in Adelaide as part of the Adelaide Festival. The complete program for Adelaide Writers’ Week is due to be released in late January. For more information, visit the Adelaide Festival website here.
