Penguin Random House UK to close French and German offices

Penguin Random House (PRH) UK will close two offices covering markets in Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, France and Germany as part of an international restructure of its sales team, reports the Bookseller. The Penguin Books Benelux and France office in Amsterdam and the Penguin Books Germany office in Frankfurt will close and move their administrative functions to the London office, where two new international teams will be based from 2015 to work across all PRH UK publishing lists. As part of the move, Penguin US and DK will assume responsibility from Penguin UK for their sales into international markets from January, while the London office will take on responsibility for the entire UK list in Latin America and the Caribbean. PRH group sales director Mike Symons said the changes are being made to realign PRH’s ‘international strategies and to develop a consistent, best practice approach’. Penguin offices in Spain and Italy are unaffected by the changes.
