A&U acquires novel on F Scott Fitzgerald

Allen & Unwin (A&U) has signed a novel following the final years of The Great Gatsby author F Scott Fitzgerald, reports the Bookseller.

A&U acquired UK, Commonwealth and ANZ rights to West of Sunset by Stewart O’Nan via Rachel Clements at Abner Stein on behalf of The Gernert Company.

West of Sunset will be required reading for anyone who loves The Great Gatsby,’ said A&U UK director Clare Drysdale. ‘O’Nan has performed an astonishing act of literary ventriloquism to recreate, with great subtlety and pathos, the final, tragic years of Fitzgerald’s life amidst the corrupt glamour of Hollywood.’

Rights have also been sold to Rowohlt in Germany and Editions de l’Olivier in France. A&U plans to publish the title in August 2015.
