Oyster launches online literary journal

Ebook subscription service Oyster has launched a free online journal called the Oyster Review, which will publish original essays, reviews and interviews on books and writing, reports Publishers Weekly. Oyster’s editorial director Kevin Nguyen described the journal as the company’s latest ‘discovery project’ and noted that ‘some readers want algorithmic recommendations, and others want editorial recommendations, or reviews’. Oyster has also established an Authors Advisory Board to represent ‘writer’s interests’. The board, comprised of authors Roxane Gay, Megan Abbott and Lauren Oliver, will provide feedback to the company’s management on ‘subscription royalties or anything’. Nguyen said the feedback will not be made public.
