French independent bookshop campaign launched

The French Booksellers Association has launched a national campaign for independent bookshops, reports the Bookseller. The campaign, which runs until the end of 2015, includes a logo to build recognition for independent bookshops, promotional posters and bookmarks, and a website to identify and locate stores. It runs under a slogan that can be translated as ‘enter another world’. Promotional material is being sent out this week, with the campaign website and Facebook page to launch on 1 December. The kits will be sent to 1500 booksellers, and another 2500-3000 stores, which sell mainly books, will also be able to order them. The campaign has been estimated to cost approximately €200,000 (A$288,900) and partners include the trade organisation Cercle de la Librairie, the National Book Centre, and public lending rights collection agency Sofia.
