Apple reveals 2014 top iBooks downloads for UK, US

The Apple iBooks store has released lists of the most downloaded books of 2014 in the UK and the US. Reflecting the popularity of film tie-ins, the highest selling paid books in the UK were The Fault in Our Stars (John Green, Penguin) and Gone Girl (Gillian Flynn, Hachette) in fiction, and 12 Years a Slave (Solomon Northup, various imprints) and The Wolf of Wall Street (Jordan Belfort, Hachette) in nonfiction, reports the Bookseller. The Woods (Harlan Coben, Orion) was the most downloaded free book. In the US, The Fault in Our Stars and Gone Girl were also the two highest selling fiction titles, reports Publishers Weekly. Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt (Michael Lewis, Allen Lane) and Unbroken (Laura Hillenbrand, Fourth Estate) topped the nonfiction charts, while Private (Maxine Paetro & James Patterson, Arrow) was the top free book.
