Nielsen study finds teens lag adults in ebook uptake

In the US, teen readers aged 13-17 are lagging behind adults when it comes to their uptake of ebooks, according to a study from Nielsen. The study found 20% of teens are purchasing ebooks, compared to 23% of 18-29-year-olds and 25% of 30-44-year-olds. ‘While younger readers are open to ebooks as a format, teens continue to express a preference for print that may seem to be at odds with their perceived digital know-how,’ said the report, which speculated that lack of access to credit cards for online purchases and a preference for borrowing and sharing books may be influential factors.
