Staff changes at ‘Books+Publishing’

The editorial team that produces the Weekly Book Newsletter, Books+Publishing Daily newsletter and Books+Publishing magazine has undergone some changes.

Brad Jefferies has been appointed news editor on a full-time basis. Jefferies has worked part-time as Books+Publishing’s publishing assistant since September 2013 while completing a Master of Creative Writing, Publishing and Editing at the University of Melbourne. Jefferies has previously worked as a journalist at the Fremantle Herald and the Perth Voice.

Jackie Tang, data integration assistant at Books+Publishing’s parent company Bowker, has been appointed Books+Publishing’s editorial assistant. Tang will be responsible for the Weekly Book Newsletter’s classified and job advertisements, as well as other editorial duties.

News editor and former editor-in-chief Matthia Dempsey commenced maternity leave in January, and assistant editor Hilary Simmons has left the company but will continue to work for Books+Publishing on a freelance basis.

Paula Grunseit, a reviewer, journalist and librarian, also joined the Books+Publishing team in September 2014 in the part-time role of library news journalist.
