UK, US 2014 bestsellers announced

The Fault in Our Stars (John Green, Penguin) was the bestselling book in the UK and US in 2014 in what was a strong year for children’s books in both markets. In the UK, seven of the top 10 selling books of the year were children’s or young adult titles, reports the Guardian. Four books in the ‘Minecraft’ series (Egmont) made the top 10, while children’s author David Walliams’ Awful Auntie (HarperCollins) was third on the chart. In the US, the 2014 print bestseller list was dominated by children’s and young adult titles, reports Publishers Weekly. Jeff Kinney’s The Long Haul (Puffin) was second on the chart, while the three books in Veronica Roth’s ‘Divergent’ trilogy (HarperCollins) were third, fourth and fifth.
