Waterstones relaunches website with individual shop pages

UK bookselling chain Waterstones has relaunched its website offering a ‘simpler and more pleasurable experience’ for customers, reports the Bookseller. The new website, which is optimised for tablets and smartphones, includes booksellers’ reviews, an integrated Waterstones blog and a dedicated page for each shop, which will be developed over time to include individual stores’ book recommendations, events and photographs, said Waterstones. The website offers customers access to 250,000 titles available within 24 hours, up from 25,000 titles previously. It has also simplified its ‘click and collect’ service by allowing customers to select a ‘preferred shop’ default option. ‘It is very exciting to have this potential to create an online personality, building on the rejuvenation of our physical estate of shops,’ said Waterstones MD James Daunt.
