Pan Macmillan to publish ‘Shantaram’ sequel

Pan Macmillan Australia will publish a sequel to Gregory David Roberts’ novel Shantaram in October under its Picador imprint.

The Mountain Shadow is set two years after the events in Shantaram and follows the protagonist, Lin, in Bombay on a ‘search for love and faith [that] leads him through secret and violent intrigues to the dangerous truth’.

The Mountain Shadow is a work of immense power and a rip roaring read,’ said Picador publisher Alex Craig in a statement. ‘It’s storytelling at its best—epic in scope, beautifully realised, philosophically profound and a page turner.’

Shantaram was originally published by Scribe in 2003 before the rights were sold to Pan Macmillan. Little, Brown will publish The Mountain Shadow in the UK and other Commonwealth territories in a simultaneous release.
