Pan Macmillan won’t publish Evans’ Paleo diet baby cookbook; authors to self-publish ebook

Pan Macmillan has announced it will not publish a Paleo diet baby cookbook co-written by Pete Evans, with the authors to self-publish a digital version in coming weeks.

Pan Macmillan said in a statement reported by SBS: ‘The authors of Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way for New Mums, Babies and Toddlers have decided to release a digital version of the book very shortly, and will, therefore, no longer publish the book, in any format, with Pan Macmillan Australia.’ Evans confirmed on his Facebook page that the digital version will be released ‘in the next week or two’.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Pan Macmillan last week announced it had delayed publication of Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way for New Mums, Babies and Toddlers amid concerns that some of the recipes pose health risks for babies. The cookbook by Evans, baby recipe blogger Charlotte Carr and naturopath Helen Padarin was due to be published on 13 March. The Australian Women’s Weekly reported that a ‘consortium of health organisations’ has ‘expressed grave concerns over the book’s DIY baby milk formula’.
