Carroll to present Miles Franklin Award Oration

Author Steven Carroll will present the Miles Franklin Literary Award Oration at the State Library of Victoria on 18 May.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the Australian Bookseller’s Association (ABA) will host the oration and announcement of the 2015 shortlist as part of a new partnership with the Miles Franklin Literary Award and the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund. The oration and announcement of the shortlist immediately following the close of the ABA Conference, which runs 17-18 May.

Carroll won the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 2008 for his novel The Time We Have Taken (Fourth Estate). Last year he won the Prime Minister’s Award for Fiction for A World of Other People (Fourth Estate), along with Richard Flanagan.
