Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief (Picador) has topped the Dymocks 101 Club list of the best 101 books of all time for 2015, as voted by members of the company’s Booklover loyalty program. It is the second year in a row that The Book Thief has topped the list.

Zusak’s novel is one of 17 Australian books on the list, including Burial Rites (Hannah Kent, Picador) in 24th place, The Rosie Project (Graeme Simsion, Text) in 25th place, The Narrow Road to the Deep North (Richard Flanagan, Knopf) in 31st place and A B Facey’s A Fortunate Life (various imprints) in 45th place.

Forty-two books were written by female authors, and more than 35 books have been adapted into films, including nine of the top 10. More than 15,000 votes were cast for the promotion, which is a 1500% increase on last year.
