Storylines NZ announces 2015 Notable Books List, awards

The Storylines Children’s Literature Charitable Trust in New Zealand has announced its list of notable books for 2015.

The Storylines 2015 Notable Books List was announced on 30 March in Auckland. The list includes books published during 2014 in four categories: picture books, junior fiction, young adult and nonfiction. To view the full list, click here.

A number of awards have also been announced. Tom E Moffatt won the Joy Cowley Award for best unpublished manuscript for children for Barking Mad, and Joy Halloran-Davidson won the Tom Fitzgibbon Award for unpublished picture book text for Witch’s Cat Wanted, Apply Within. Moffatt and Halloran-Davidson each win $1500 and an offer for publication from Scholastic.

Little Kiwi is Scared of the Dark (Bob Darroch, Penguin) was awarded the Storylines Gaelyn Gordon Award for a much-loved book, presented to a work of fiction at least five years old that is seen to have stood the test of time. The Storylines Tessa Duder Award for a young adult manuscript was not being awarded in 2015.
