A&U wins Bologna Prize for children’s publishing

Allen & Unwin has won the Bologna Prize for Best Children’s Publisher of the Year in the Oceania category.

The publisher was chosen from a shortlist of three, which included Text Publishing and Wilkins Farago. Winners were also announced in five other geographical regions: Asia, Africa, Central-South America, Europe and North America.

A&U publishing director of books for children and young adults, Eva Mills, told Books+Publishing that the publisher was ‘hugely excited to have won this prestigious award, and humbled that other publishers around the world have selected Allen & Unwin to represent the best of Oceania in 2014’. Mills paid particular tribute to ‘our fabulous rights and international sales team’.

The prize was established in 2013 by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the Italian Publishers Association to ‘pay tribute to excellence in the world of children’s publishing’. Last year Walker Books Australia won the Oceania category.

The winners were announced at this year’s Bologna Children’s Book Fair. To see the full list of winners, click here.
