Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction 2015 shortlist announced

In the UK, the shortlist for the 2015 Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, previously known as the Orange Prize for Fiction, has been announced. The six shortlisted titles are: Outline (Rachel Cusk, Faber); The Bees (Laline Paull, HarperCollins); A God in Every Stone (Kamila Shamsie, Bloomsbury); How to Be Both (Ali Smith, Penguin); A Spool of Blue Thread (Anne Tyler, Chatto & Windus); and The Paying Guests (Sarah Waters, Virago). A judging panel chaired by Shami Chakrabarti chose the shortlist from a longlist of 20 titles. ‘The novels we shared and the shortlist we ultimately honour form a body of great women’s writing to entertain and inspire for many years to come,’ said Chakrabarti. The judging panel will now decide on the winner of the £30,000 (A$58,000) prize, which will be announced in London on 3 June 2015. For more information on the prize, visit the website here.
