Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu collaboration among LBF ‘buzz books’
A book about joy by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu was one of the ‘buzz books’ at this year’s London Book Fair, reports the Bookseller. The Book of Joy: Finding Enduring Happiness in an Uncertain World is the first-ever collaboration between the two Nobel Peace Prize laureates, and will be based around their answers to questions posted on Facebook. UK and Commonwealth rights were sold after a 12-publisher auction, while US rights were picked up after ‘strong interest from every major US publisher’. Publishers Weekly has also nominated a selection of ‘buzz books’ of the fair, including two debut novels that were ‘sold in rumoured seven-figure deals’: Yaa Gyasi’s Homegoing, ‘an epic about two half-sisters born in 18th century Ghana’; and DeSales Harrison’s literary thriller The Waters & the Wild.
