US Indies Choice Book Awards 2015 winners announced

The American Booksellers Association has announced the winners of the 2015 Indies Choice Book Awards and the E B White Read-Aloud Awards, as voted for by independent booksellers in the US. The prize for Adult Fiction was awarded to All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (HarperCollins) and the prize for Adult Nonfiction went to Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End (Atul Gawande, Profile Books). The Adult Debut prize went to The Martian (Andy Weir, Del Rey) and the Young Adult prize went to The Darkest Part of the Forest (Holly Black, Indigo). The winners of the E B White Read-Aloud Awards were Brown Girl Dreaming (Jacqueline Woodson, Nancy Paulsen Books) in the Middle Reader category and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole (Mac Barnett, illus by Jon Klassen, Walker Books) in the Picture Book category. The classic picture books selected for induction into the Picture Book Hall of Fame were Blueberries for Sal (Robert McCloskey, Penguin), Frog and Toad (Arnold Lobel, HarperCollins) and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (Laura Numeroff, illus by Felicia Bond (HarperCollins). The winning authors will be honoured at a BookExpo America Luncheon on 28 May. Read more about the awards here.
