Goodreads adds free audiobook samples

Starting this week, Goodreads will provide free audio samples for 180,000 titles through a new ‘Listen’ icon on its website, reports DBW. The samples will be taken from the digital catalogue of audiobook retailer Audible, which, like Goodreads, is owned by Amazon. Goodreads users do not have to be Audible members to access the feature, but those not signed up in the US, UK, France, Germany or Australia will be offered a 30-day free trial with the retailer. The feature is currently only accessible on the website, with plans to extend it to the mobile site and apps in the future. This news comes after subscription provider Scribd added over 9000 Penguin Random House audiobooks to its subscription library last week.
