Edgar Allan Poe Awards 2015 winners announced

In the US, the Mystery Writers of America has announced the winners of the 2015 Edgar Allan Poe Awards, which honour ‘the best in mystery fiction, nonfiction and television’ published in 2014. Among the winners are: Mr Mercedes by Stephen King (Hodder & Stoughton) for Best Novel; Dry Bones in the Valley by Tom Bouman (Faber) for Best First Novel; The Art of Secrets by James Klise (Algonquin) for Best Young Adult Novel; and Poe-Land: The Hallowed Haunts of Edgar Allan Poe by J W Ocker (W W Norton) for Best Critical/Biographical. The joint winners of the Grand Masters Award for achievement in mystery writing were Lois and James Ellroy, and the Raven Award for outstanding achievement in mystery ‘outside the realm of creative writing’ was shared by Ruth and Jon Jordan from Crimespree Magazine and Kathryn Kennison from Magna Cum Murder festival.
