UK ebook market share drops slightly in 2015

In the UK, ebook market share has decreased slightly in the first quarter of 2015, reports the Bookseller. A report from Nielsen Book Research found that ebook share increased from 20% in 2012 to 33% in 2015, but is currently at 29% in the first quarter of 2015. In 2014, the UK print and ebook market was up 4%, driven by strong sales for children’s and YA titles, which were up 9%. However, print buying was down, with adult fiction down 5% and adult nonfiction down 4%. The report also examined the market share of ereading devices in the last quarter of 2014, with 47% of people choosing a Kindle, 38% a tablet and 8% using their smartphone.
