France named 2017 FBF guest of honour

France has been named as the guest of honour at the 2017 Frankfurt Book Fair (FBF), reports the Bookseller. This is the second time the country has been guest of honour, after holding the position in 1989. France received the invite for 2017 in 2013, but did not reply until last year when the government confirmed funding for the event. The organising committee will be led by Paul Sinety under the responsibility of the Institut Francais. Indonesia will be guest of honour at this year’s fair, and the Netherlands and Flanders will be guest of honour in 2016.
