Uhlmann, Lewis adaptation to screen on Foxtel next year

A six-part miniseries based on the novels Marmalade Files and The Mandarin Code by Chris Uhlmann and Steve Lewis (HarperCollins) will screen next year on Foxtel’s Showcase channel.

The show will begin filming in Canberra in August before airing in March 2016. As previously reported by Books+Publishing, the series has received funding from Screen Australia and will be adapted by writers Belinda Chayko, Matt Cameron, Marieke Hardy, Alice Addison, Tommy Murphy, Kris Mrksa and Greg Waters, and produced by Joanna Werner and Matchbox Pictures.

Secret City is described as a ‘high stakes political thriller set in a world of secrets, lies, murder and betrayal’. The cast includes Anna Torv, Damon Herriman and Dan Wyllie.

Matchbox Pictures’ co-founder Penny Chapman said in a statement: ‘We have all along wanted this to be a thriller that goes to the heart of Australia’s relations with the US and China and how that might impact on our domestic world. A challenge for us is that almost every time we come up with what we feel is a bold fictional story, real events seem to steal it.’
