The Quarto Group creates direct-to-consumer website

London- and New York-based publisher the Quarto Group has launched a consumer-facing website called QuartoKnows, which will sell direct-to-consumer titles from August, reports the Bookseller. QuartoKnows showcases titles published by Quarto Publishing UK and Quarto Publishing Group USA, and currently links the titles to retailers, such as Amazon and Waterstones, but will sell titles directly to consumers from 31 August in the US and 30 September in the UK. ‘We want to be able to connect our books and their authors directly with consumers in a way that is responsive to what they’re searching for,’ said Quarto CEO Marcus Leaver. In 2013, Quarto rebranded its UK publishing business Aurum Publishing Group as Quarto Publishing Group UK, a strategy which Leaver had described as a ‘consumer-led approach’. This year, Quarto also launched create-your-own cookbook website ‘This is Your Cookbook’. The QuartoKnows website features 10 sections with curated book recommendations and blogs with content drawn from the books featured on the website.
