Publishing Scotland launches international fellowship program

Scotland’s publishing trade association Publishing Scotland has launched an international fellowship program to increase the exposure of Scottish books internationally and facilitate rights sales, reports the Bookseller. As part of the fellowship, the association has invited senior publishing figures from Europe, the US and Canada to meet with writers and publishers in Scotland in August. The association has also relaunched its Books From Scotland website, which features around 8000 books by Scottish publishers, written by Scottish authors or of Scottish interest, with links to local bricks-and-mortar booksellers and online retailers. Publishing Scotland CEO Marion Sinclair said in a statement: ‘The Scottish publishing market is a mature one, but it is also one that needs to develop on an international scale. We have established several initiatives to help the industry promote itself to the international market over the years and we are starting to see positive effects.’
