More authors announced for Tasmanian Writers and Readers Festival

The Tasmanian Writers and Readers Festival has released a second line-up of authors to appear at its 2015 festival, which runs from 11-13 September in Hobart.

Joining Don Watson and Bob Brown, who were announced earlier this month, are short story writer Cate Kennedy and YA novelist and poet Kathryn Lomer. Helen Garner, who was previously announced as a festival guest, has withdrawn due to ill health.

Marieke Hardy and Michaela McGuire will host a Women of Letters event featuring Tasmanian writers. Other events include a live recording of ABC Radio National program ‘Now Hear This’, hosted by broadcaster Melanie Tait; and a writing masterclass with Cate Kennedy.

The biennial festival, which previously ran as part of the Ten Days of the Island Festival, renamed the Tasmanian International Arts Festival, is being run independently this year. This year’s festival is based around the theme ‘truth and imagination’.

Tickets go on sale on the festival website on 27 July.
