HarperCollins Brasil launched

HarperCollins and its Brazilian partner Ediouro Group have launched HarperCollins Brasil, a subsidiary that will publish around 350 titles a year, reports Publishers Weekly. The list will include children’s, Christian and romance titles from its global list of authors, as well as a number of books by local Brazilian authors. The subsidiary was created by combining imprints Thomas Nelson Brasil and Harlequin Brasil, and the Ediouro Group’s commercial trade list. The Ediouro Group, which will continue to publish a literary and Catholic trade list outside the joint venture, has been HarperCollins’ Brazilian partner since 2006. HarperCollins CEO Brian Murray said HarperCollins Brasil ‘gives us greater scale in a critical and growing market, and is another step in our plans to publish our diverse list of authors globally, while also publishing local authors.’ As previously reported by Books+Publishing, HarperCollins expanded its international publishing program in April this year, announcing four rebranded offices: HarperCollins Holland, HarperCollins Japan, HarperCollins Nordic (which will cover Norway and Sweden, Finland and Denmark) and HarperCollins Polska (covering Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia). The new offices joined previously announced international offices: HarperCollins Germany, HarperCollins Iberica and HarperCollins Español.
