NT Literary Awards 2015 winners announced

The Northern Territory Library has announced the winners of the Northern Territory Literary Awards.

The 2015 winners are:

Short story ($1000)

  • ‘It’s a Privilege to Live in Arrernte Country’ (Jo Dutton)

 

Poetry ($1000)

  • ‘Territory Night’ (Penny Drysdale)

 

Travel short story ($500)

  • ‘Fire in the Furnace’ (Barbara Eather)

 

Essay ($1000)

  • ‘Not at the End of the World: Creation Stories and Apocalypse in Alexis Wright’s “Carpentaria” and “The Swan Book”’ (Adelle Barry)

 

Youth award ($600)

  • ‘Yellow’ (Ka Wai [Micki] Teng)

 

Theatre ($1000)

  • Untitled (Luke Scholes)

 

Flash fiction ($500)

  • ‘Chapel’ (Fernanda Dahlstrom).

 

The winners were announced at a ceremony at the NT Library on 30 July. They receive a cash prize, a NT Writers’ Centre membership and enrolment in masterclasses at the centre.

The winners were chosen from shortlists announced in July.
