Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books 2015 shortlist announced

In the UK, the shortlist for the 2015 Royal Society Winton Prize for Science Books—the only major international prize that celebrates science-writing for a non-specialist audience—has been announced. The finalists for the £25,000 (A$53,000) prize are: The Man Who Couldn’t Stop (David Adam, Picador), Alex through the Looking-Glass: How Life Reflects Numbers and Numbers Reflect Life (Alex Bellos, Bloomsbury), Smashing Physics: Inside the World’s Biggest Experiment (Jon Butterworth, Headline), Life’s Greatest Secret: The Story of the Race to Crack the Genetic Code (Matthew Cobb, Profile), Life on the Edge: The Coming of Age of Quantum Biology (Johnjoe Mcfadden & Jim Al-Khalili, Bantam Press) and Adventures in the Anthropocene: A Journey to the Heart of the Planet we Made (Gaia Vince, Chatto & Windus).
