Writers Victoria announces winners of its emerging writers prizes, fellowships

Writers Victoria has announced the 2015 winners of its Glenfern Fellowships and Grace Marion Wilson Emerging Writers Competition.

Glenfern Fellowships were awarded to Audrey El-Osta for her poetry collection ‘Primavera’; Jacquie Byron for her crime novel ‘Trouble Sleeping’; and Jessica Yu for her YA novel ‘The Strong and Silent Type’.

Each of the writers receives three months’ use of a writer’s studio at Glenfern, a National Trust property in East St Kilda. Judges Chrissie Keighery and Eddie Creaney said: ‘These entries shared a clear, strong vision, sharp and original writing and potential for development with the peace and tranquillity Glenfern has to offer.’

The Grace Marion Wilson Prizes were award to Tamsin Martin and Kerry Lee Munnery. Martin was awarded the nonfiction prize for her piece ‘Lady M’; and Munnery was award the fiction prize for her story ‘Solatium’.
