Borghino appointed IPA secretary general

International Publishers Association (IPA) policy director José Borghino has been promoted to secretary general, replacing Jens Bammel in the position. Borghino was appointed policy director in 2013, after previous roles as manager of industry representation at the Australian Publishers Association (APA) and as executive director of the Australian Society of Authors. Borghino’s Geneva-based role will see him supporting IPA members in international forums, managing relationships with other international organisations and NGOs, and advising members on policy issues. Borghino said: ‘The challenge to old business models that digitisation ushered in a decade ago is by no means over, and publishers must remain nimble and flexible. The IPA is the global publishing industry’s indispensable frontline defender in the face of multiple challenges and I look forward to leading the IPA team at this important time.’ For more information, visit the IPA website here.
