Bible Society acquires Koorong

Bible Society Australia has acquired Christian bookstore chain Koorong.

The organisation, which translates, publishes, distributes and promotes the bible in Australia and internationally, takes over Koorong’s 15 bricks-and-mortar stores across Australia, as well as its online store.

Paul Bootes, whose family has owned Koorong since the company was founded in 1978, will continue in his role as managing director. In a statement, Bootes said all of the current staff will be retained.

‘Over 40 years ago my father and mother started selling bibles and Christian books in our garage near Marsfield,’ said Bootes. ‘Today, thanks to the support of our customers, we have 300 dedicated employees, a thriving online business and 15 stores nationwide.’
