Amazon UK releases first consumer report; Hawkins tops 2015 ebooks chart

In the UK, Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on The Train (Transworld Digital) is the bestselling Kindle ebook of the year to date, with Amazon revealing the top 20 bestselling titles in its first ever Consumer Report, reports the Guardian. Just two of the bestselling titles are by male authors, with Grey (E L James, Arrow); Silent Scream (Angela Marsons, Bookouture); Elizabeth is Missing (Emma Healey, Penguin) and Gone Girl (Gillian Flynn, Hachette) rounding out the top five. The retailer also revealed the list of bestselling print books, which is topped by Ella Woodward’s healthy eating cookbook Deliciously Ella (Hodder & Stoughton) and followed by Millie Marotta’s Animal Kingdom (Batsford) in second place, Grey in third, The Girl on the Train fourth, and Amelia Freer’s Eat, Nourish, Glow (HarperCollins) in fifth. The retailer said the bestselling print books are dominated by two standout genres: healthy eating, which continues to be a trend ‘as Brits become ever more conscious of what they eat’; and colouring books, with ‘no fewer than four adult colouring books in the top twenty’.
