Authors raise over £500,000 for Syrian refugees

A group of authors, led by Patrick Ness, have raised over £500,000 (A$1.1m) for Syrian refugees, reports the Bookseller. Ness launched the fundraising campaign on 3 September, pledging to match donations of up to £10,000 (A$22,000). Authors who have also donated £10,000 to match public donations include Philip Pullman, John Green, Marian Keyes and Cressida Cowell, while numerous other authors have donated money or participated in charity auctions. The money raised from the campaign will go to the charity Save the Children to help with the Syrian refugee crisis.  Donations to the campaign can be made here.
